‘Unlimilted‘ Mobile Broadband plans seem to be no longer available from either Telco.[/important]

Until recently the common Globe unlimited Internet plan was the SUPERSURF999.

This SUPERSURF999 plan, at a cost of 999 pesos per month gave 30 days Unlimited Internet. The only drawback being that after reaching 800mb in 24 hours the service was cut back to a VERY SLOW speed..

This has now changed, as the SUPERSURF plan appears to have been withdrawn and replaced with the new GOSURF.

The GOSURF999 plan, at a cost of 999 pesos per month gives 30 days Internet, but limited to 5Gb during that 30 days.
It appears that if you use that 5Gb in, say 5 days, then your plan ends…..  Not exactly a good change for the customer ??

However, it does appear that you can still ACCESS the INTERNET after your 5Gb allocation has been used up, BUT, at a cost of 2 pesos per MB.  However, the latest information does state that you will pay no more than P1,500 for mobile surfing per month when you subscribe to the GoSURF 99 to GoSURF 999 plans.  You do need to ensure that you have another 501 pesos load on your SIM card, after paying the 999 for the GOSURF999 plan, (or 1,401 pesos if on the GoSurf 99 30 day plan), to be certain of getting the full 30 days Internet access.

5Gb Internet per month is 166.67 MB per day on average.  Much less than the original 800mb per day for “Unlimited” use.

Sunette Tower, Makati. Internet Speed

The Sunette Tower, in Makati, Manila provides a faster WiFi internet than many local hotels in the area, but it is not cheap.

The monthly rate at November 2013 is 2,500 pesos, and the weekly rate is 1,000 pesos.

Daily booking customers do get some hours free of charge (Free 2 hours of Internet Connectivity for On-line bookers.)

My speed test today showed this speed:

Sunette Tower, Makati. Internet Speed

Notes:
Faster than 76% of the Philippines
ISP: China Telecom Beijing.

The ISP does not surprise me, as I found that while in Palawan, one hotel was using a Korean based ISP. I have no idea how that works though.

Sunette Tower – Makati

Sunette Tower – Makati Hotel is a 24-storey full-service condominium hotel in the heart of Makati featuring studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites.
Each fully air-conditioned room comes complete with living, kitchen and dining facilities and all the modern amenities you’ll ever need.
At Sunette Tower – Hotel in Makati, you’ll experience a uniquely quiet sanctuary in the heart of the business district.

PowerSurf or SuperSurf for Globe Subscribers

Deciding which option to use when you need mobile internet access may be easy to some, but confusing for others.

I hope this helps:

With the Philippines Globe Mobile Internet service, you have these two most popular options:

PowerSurf or SuperSurf

PowerSurf for Globe Prepaid Subscribers

PRICE MB VOLUME VALIDITY
P15  20MB 1 Day
P30  50MB 1 Day
P50 100MB 3 Days
P99 50MB 30 Days
P299 300MB 30 Days
P499 1GB 30 Days

SuperSurf for Globe Prepaid Subscribers

DURATION MB VOLUME PRICE
1 day 800MB P50
5 day 800MB per 24 hour period P200
30 day 800MB per 24 hour period P999

The MB Volume quoted on the SuperSurf plans of 800 MB per 24 hours, is the actual limit that is imposed under the Globe Fair Use Policy. The figure of 800MB is not quoted, but has been activated 5 times on my own account, specifying that I exceeded the Fair use Policy by exceeding 800MB in under 24 hours.

My account was then frozen until the next 24 hour period began.

The Acceptable Terms Fair Use Policy of Globe is aligned with the global industry practice of telecommunications providers all over the world.

If you do not use file sharing software or download large files from the internet, it is unlikely that you will ever be affected by this policy.
