How long will an unused SIM card last on the Smart network

The SMART Prepaid GSM service shall be PERMANENTLY DISCONNECTED if the subscriber fails to load another SMART Prepaid Call and Text Card within 120 days after the last card balance has been completely consumed.

SMART shall not cause the reconnection of a PERMANENTLY DISCONNECTED SMART Prepaid GSM service.

Mobile numbers associated with the disconnected SMART Prepaid SIM Cards cannot be reacquired.

A new SMART Prepaid SIM PACK must be purchased to avail of the SMART Prepaid GSM service.

This will have a different mobile number. Requests for a change of mobile number are not allowed.

Does a SMART roaming SIM expire if it does not have load after a period of time?

2015/16 Update:

Smart Prepaid subscribers who are registered to Smart’s roaming service abroad only need to load a minimum of PhP50.00 per month starting December 1, 2015. This amount has been lowered from the previous minimum load requirement of PhP100.00.

Should your load go below the minimum load requirement, receiving of incoming texts for your roaming account will be temporarily suspended at the start of the the following month until your next reloading. This process will start taking effect on January 5, 2016, and will recur every 1st of the month thereafter.

You will be notified via SMS if receiving of incoming texts in your Smart Prepaid roaming account will be temporarily suspended. You will still be able to send outgoing texts, however.

A SMART SIM card can be set for roaming as long as it has a balance of at least 100 pesos at the time of activation.

Smart Bro Broadband SIM – Should it cost 50 php or is really 150 php ?

In Angeles City, Pampanga at least TWO shops are selling the Smart Bro Broadband SIM for 150 pesos (One Hundred and Fifty Peso) each, even though it has P50 marked on it. They both gave the same reason; that the p50 is the wholesale price, the price they pay!!

The SMART website quotes the price as:

I went to SM Clark, and bought one there, for only P50 …

It seems that the phone card sales shop outside JJ Supermarket wanted to make an extra P100 profit from me. As did the shop opposite. Maybe they are under the same management ?

Can I load a SmartBro Broadband load onto a normal Smart SIM ?

The answer is “not in an easy one step move”.

A SmartBro prepaid Broadband Load CANNOT be loaded directly onto a normal Smart Buddy Sim card.

If you have a SmartBro Prepaid Broadband load card, and need to use it on a normal SIM, then you NEED to load it to a SmartBro SIM card first and then use Pasaload to transfer it to the SIM that you want it on.

This information is valid at 28 Oct 2014, as I just tried it.

Now I need to BUY an Broadband SIM to use my P300 SIM load.

The latest Globe Surfing plans now have Monthly limits, but allow unlimited access at a cap of Php 1,500 pesos per month. This is charged at 999 pesos for the GOSURF999 plan, plus an extra 2 pesos per MB used after the 5GB monthly allocation has been used, up to a maximum charge of 1,500 pesos for the month, assuming you have sufficient extra load on your SIM card. 501 pesos in the case of the GoSurf999 plan, or more for the lower charged monthly plans. Without extra load on your SIM, your internet access will end after the 5GB has been used.

Globe Prepaid UNLIMITED Mobile Internet Plans

[important]The Department of Justice reminded telco giants Smart Communications and Globe Telecom that “Unlimited” internet service means unlimited, and that the imposition of a fair usage policy on unlimited internet service is inconsistent with the provisions of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
‘Unlimilted‘ Mobile Broadband plans seem to be no longer available from either Telco.[/important]

Until recently the common Globe unlimited Internet plan was the SUPERSURF999.

This SUPERSURF999 plan, at a cost of 999 pesos per month gave 30 days Unlimited Internet. The only drawback being that after reaching 800mb in 24 hours the service was cut back to a VERY SLOW speed..

This has now changed, as the SUPERSURF plan appears to have been withdrawn and replaced with the new GOSURF.

The GOSURF999 plan, at a cost of 999 pesos per month gives 30 days Internet, but limited to 5Gb during that 30 days.
It appears that if you use that 5Gb in, say 5 days, then your plan ends….. Not exactly a good change for the customer ??

However, it does appear that you can still ACCESS the INTERNET after your 5Gb allocation has been used up, BUT, at a cost of 2 pesos per MB. However, the latest information does state that you will pay no more than P1,500 for mobile surfing per month when you subscribe to the GoSURF 99 to GoSURF 999 plans. You do need to ensure that you have another 501 pesos load on your SIM card, after paying the 999 for the GOSURF999 plan, (or 1,401 pesos if on the GoSurf 99 30 day plan), to be certain of getting the full 30 days Internet access.

5Gb Internet per month is 166.67 MB per day on average. Much less than the original 800mb per day for “Unlimited” use.
